Regular Schedule

GENERAL

  • Any applicant that was denied membership to NHS has the right to appeal the decision.  Appeal letters must be submitted to Mrs. Hermsen by 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1st.  See Mrs. Hermsen if you have questions about what information should be included in your letter.
  • Any senior who is scheduled for Term 2 Service Experience, and has not turned in their paperwork, please see Guidance.
  • November 1st will be the cut-off date for students to make Term 2 schedule changes. Please see Guidance if needing to do so. 
  • A new posting has been placed on the Job Board in Guidance. Check back frequently for updates.
  • Just a reminder for students who are interested in taking PSEO classes during the Spring 2017 semester, all signed paperwork and applications must be turned into the Guidance Office by Tuesday, November 1st!
  • Basketball Cheerleading practice will start November 1st in the Upper Gym at 4:00 PM.
  • Seniors- Real Life Academy is TODAY Thursday October 27th.  There will be four different groups.  Please make sure you check in the commons to see which group you are in.  It is always important that you represent West Delaware in a positive manner.  Dress appropriately, be considerate to the speakers, and be polite.  This is a great experience for all of you!
  • Deadline for December 10, 2016 ACT is November 4, 2016. Please see Guidance for further information.
  • Student volunteers are needed to play with kids during parent/teacher conferences on Wednesday and Thursday, November 2nd and 3rd, in the Lambert commons from 2:30-6:30PM both days.  You can help for all or part of that time block.  Adults will be there to supervise. The kids love to have high school kids come play with them!  Please sign up in Mrs. Bramel's or Mr. Carper's rooms.
  • What’s 3D printing all about anyway? Try your hand at using Tinkercad to create your own 3D design we can print. Go to tinkercad.com to sign up for a free account. Want help getting started? Sign up to join Mrs. Stocks in the library during Hawk Tuesday, October 25th, or Friday, October 28th to get assistance with your design and see the 3D printer in action. Space is limited to 10 students each session. You must be signed up by 3 p.m. the day before the session if you wish to attend. See Mrs. Stocks if you have questions.
  • SENIORS: When is the last time you checked out the scholarship page on the WD web site? Slowly but surely scholarships are being added. Check back frequently! 
  • The local VFW is seeking entries for this year's Voice of Democracy contest. Students may enter by writing an essay on the topic "My Responsibility to America." A hard copy and audio recording of the essay need to be submitted by November 1st. See Mrs. Stocks for more information and an entry form. Prize money and/or scholarships will be awarded to winners at each level.
  • Seniors - Remember to email your senior photo to Mrs. Temeyer by November 1st, 2016. Late submissions may not be published in the yearbook.
  • All speech students are required to help with speech clean up after the playoff game on Friday.

UPCOMING MEETINGS/EVENTS at WD

  • NHS Meeting:  Wednesday, November 2nd at 7:30 a.m. in the Upper Gym.
  • Mystery Mayhem Competition: Can you solve the crime? Plans are underway for another Bring a Book to Life event! Join us for Mystery Mayhem Saturday, November 12th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Register your team of 4-6 students on the WD homepage now until Nov. 4th. Registration is open to all West Delaware MS & HS students and is limited to the first 12 teams. See the fliers posted around school or talk to Mrs. Stocks for more details.
  • A representative from Capri will be in Guidance TODAY Thursday, October 27th at 1:15 to meet with any interested juniors or seniors. 
  • A representative from Original LaJames College will be in Guidance on Monday, October 31st at 9:35 to meet with interested juniors and seniors. 
  • A representative from the University of Dubuque will be in Guidance on Monday, October 31st at 1:15 for any interested juniors or seniors 
  • A representative from Upper Iowa will be in Guidance on Thursday, November 3rd at 1:15 for any interested junior or senior. 
  • A representative from the University of Iowa will be in Guidance on Thursday, November 3rd at 9:35 for any interested junior or senior.
